In the Electricity distribution and telecommunication sectors across New Zealand treated wooden poles have been a choice for many years. Wooden poles are a material that is widely available, easy to work with and environmentally friendly, however they’re not without their problems. Wooden poles almost always fail as a result of rot in the first 300mm below ground level. Decay rates are very high at this point and this is also the point of greatest mechanical loading. That’s not a great combination for a long life asset!
Would you like your poles to last longer?
Using Polesaver sleeves to prevent ground rot is a safe and simple economic solution – stop delaying the inevitable and minimise this problem which commonly occurs in treated wooden poles. The use of wood preservatives such as creosote and other pressure treatments only delays the point at which ground-line pole decay and failure occurs. This is because the effectiveness of the preservative or treatment is reduced over time due to leaching and oxidation.
Polesaver patented sleeves are a simple and highly effective solution to this problem. They are non-toxic and quickly and easily applied to the treated poles using heat. Polesaver sleeves can be used on both new poles and retrofitted to sound poles in service. This provides a long lasting, tough and durable barrier to the causes of ground rot and decay.
The unique composite construction means Polesaver sleeves are also used as a corrosion inhibitor on steel posts, poles & lamp standards to prevent in ground corrosion and rust. This can significantly extend steel pole lifespan especially in corrosive soil types. Polesaver has a global presence with a supplier network of distributors and agents in over 30 countries. Patented in New Zealand and Australian markets, NZI is the agent for Polesaver
